My School Classes

 

The 18 month-old class will focus on beginning learning and socialization skills. Our main goal is for the children to feel loved and secure in a new, nurturing environment while being away from home for short periods of time.

Areas of focus are:

  • Bible Story Time
  • Gross Motor Skills
  • Social and Emotional Skills
  • Good Work Habits (following directions, making choices, being involved)
  • Reading Readiness (colors and letters)
  • Math Readiness (shapes and numbers)
  • Listening Skills
  • Speaking Skills
  • Music
  • Art

 

The 2-year-old class will focus on having the children master simple tasks during learning activities. Our main goal is for the children to feel loved and secure in a new, nurturing environment while being away from home for short periods of time. We will also provide ample opportunities for exploration and discovery for the individual child within the classroom.

The 3-year-old class will be given ample opportunities to express their creativity in a structured learning environment. The teacher will focus on fostering the development of intellectual, emotional, social, and motor skills, each skill is equally important.

  • Good Work Habits (raising the hand, listening, making good choices)
  • Fine Motor Skills

  • Reading Readiness (calendar time, colors, letter recognition, letter sounds, name recognition)
  • Math Readiness (shapes, counting 1-50, counting by 10’s, sorting, number recognition)
  • Listening Skills

The 4-year-old class is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten. The teacher will focus on important skills such as reading, writing, and math readiness in a child-centered, activity-based atmosphere.

  • Social and Emotional Skills
  • Good Work Habits (following routine, following directions, participating in small groups)
  • Good Listening Skills (raising the hand, listening, responding to questions)
  • Speaking Skills (speaking at appropriate times)
  • Fine Motor Skills (holding pencils/crayons, holding/using scissors, using manipulatives)
  • Writing Skills (writing name, numbers, and letters)
  • Reading Readiness (name recognition, letter, and sound recognition, basic sight words, blending small words, same/different and opposites)
  • Math Readiness (number recognition, rote counting, skip counting, sequencing skills, basic addition, and subtraction)
